Major Description
English Education is a field of study that includes the teaching and learning of the English language arts. This includes the preparation of teachers who, in turn, prepare middle and secondary school students to be creative, literate individuals who contribute to the cultural, social, and economic health of their communities. The objective of the program is to provide prospective teachers with the skills required to teach 6-12 students to critically read, write, speak, listen, and view, using literature and language as the vehicle for learningCollege Level Requirements

State Mandated Common Course Prerequisites
These prerequisites must be met by transfer students as well as USF students. A grade of "C-" is the minimum acceptable grade.

*In addition to EDF X085, a minimum of 6 semester hours with an international or diversity focus is required. Eligible courses will be determined by the Florida College System institution or university where the student is currently earning the Associate in Arts or baccalaureate degree. Foreign language courses may be used to meet this requirement.
